I won this Whipped Dog Synthetic a few weeks back and was pretty impressed with how soft it is. The brush has a lot of backbone yet the tips are extremely soft. I decided to use a hard soap with it today. Since the bristles aren’t natural, they’re not very porous, so when loading the brush you want to load a little longer than you would normally. I used a bowl to lather and was able to whip up a decent amount of lather with this brush. It was a quick two pass shave, but there was enough lather for at least one more pass if I wanted. This is the only synthetic brush I’ve used, so I don’t have much for comparison. It did a nice job, but I still prefer a real badger brush. This brush is great if you want a vegan friendly option, or just want to add some variety to your shave den.
This was my second day using the 7 O’Clock blade in what I usually consider my very mild flare tip, but it was another rough shave. I’m not sure if it was just a bad blade, or the Yellows just don’t work for me in the flare tip.
